Adjacent to the Reynolda campus of WFU. This was part of the estate of RJ Reynolds, tobacco heir. The greenhouses were built by his wife about 1916 and they are British and gorgeous. Part of the parcel of land was willed, upon her death, to be a Botanic Garden, the rest to WFU. The rose gardens are breathtaking.
I believe the Garden Council runs it. There are an amazing number of Garden Clubs in Winston. The one I belong to has been in existence since the 1920's. They are all under the aegis of the Garden Council.
I am meeting up with some MENSA friends today in an hour. Want to see if we have an Orchid SIG(special interest grp) set up nationally or locally. Wouldn't that be fun?
