Goldfish do breed like crazy. When we had goldies, they were spawing monthly from April to October. I would think in your warmer area, that spawning would start sooner for you.
When you have the number of fish in your pond that you are happy with and feel the fish levels are at a healthy level, you can get some bullfrog tadpoles and put them in your pond to help control the offspring numbers. Not sure how you feel about this - I know in my pond, the tads have been a Godsend and I have koi that don't breed as often.
