I agree

... but waiting another year, and gaining trade features that no other site has, or ever dreamed of, would be worth the wait.

Clearly Deep Design Thoughts are percolating through Dave's fertile imagination, like worms in compost, if that's a good image.

How about, instead, "deep taproots for Trading Features are sinking ever deeper into Dave's fertile imagination, and the blooms are cross-polinating and multiplying".
