One of the reasons we never setup a trading system here at ATP is because we didn't have a good plant database to draw from in making the list software.

Well, that's done now and I can safely say we have an awesome database, and I'm starting to think of a trading system. But before I think too much about it, I'm wondering: if I setup a trading system, how many of you would use it to keep your trading list of inventory? Is this even a feature that is really desired here?

I think I can make a pretty nice trading system, better than anything ever seen out there. Smiling

Thumbs up I would!

And is this a good place to ask about keeping a personal list of plants we own, like we were able to do on DG? A simple click from an entry to add it to our personal plant list? Right now I keep my list over on DG but have not been updating it and I have a newer list I created on my Cubit but I have to hand enter those so I am way behind.

You can stop me here since I am somewhat off topic with that question, don't want to sidetrack your original questions. Green Grin!

Yes, that is actually what I was planning. A garden inventory system that also doubles as a trading system.

Ditto what she said minus the part about Cubits.

Me!!! I am especially interested in the ability to click a button in the database to add a plant to our own plant list. I have lists of my daylilies, but not of the other plants I have. I enjoy trading daylilies - but have never traded other plants through the mail.

I tip my hat to you. Hurray!

I really like that idea Dave.

So, what if somebody lists seeds they may have in their inventory, but aren't willing to trade (for whatever reason). Would people only list what they're willing to trade, or would there be a flag for "x-number of seeds in x-batch of x-species available for trade" ? Not trying to complicate it :\

This. If I choose to use the list for JUST a personal inventory, rather than trading, is that possible?

Yes, add to inventory but also have clickable option to activate it to a trade list if desired, with options to add if it's seeds, cuttings or plants or add notes. Also, possibly an option to add a date when that trade option was added so we know how current it is.

Rolling on the floor laughing

Us permaculture badge owners are used to milkmood's fireant.

I'm envisioning an inventory system that works just like was described above.

You can add a plant to your inventory (through several ways, including clicking on "Add this" through the database entry).

Then you can optionally categorize the plant into categories that you choose ("Front garden", "By the shop", "I my seed drawer").

Then you can check off whether it's a plant, seed, cutting, etc.

Then you can click to allow other people to see that you have it.

Then you can click to show that you have it and are willing to trade it off.

I'd definitely use an inventory system. I don't do much trading, but this sounds like it would be great!!
