Connie, I first laid eyes on a Red Charm peony at Henrietta's in Burtonsville, Md. when my husband and I attended our first plant swap. Her gardens are so breathtaking and the one peony bush that I knew I just had to have was Red Charm.. It was so beautiful in her gardens, as was everything she had planted but that really stood out in my mind to be put on my Wish list. The Adelman's catalog is laying on the floor beside my bed now, with other gardening catalogues and magazines. My elderly neighbor across from me has some of the dark burgundy peonies that are blooming now but she probably wouldn't remember the name of them if I asked her. She has a man do her flowerbed maintence but I've never seen him divide them for her. She is in her early 90's and has a live-in caregiver and I've often thought about asking her that when he comes for the Fall maintence work, if she will allow him to dig up one of her peony bulbs/rhizomes(?) I bet she would let him do it if I can ever remember to do it. He would never do it unless she gave him permission. I have two peony plants that the previous owner of this house had planted. We are not overly fond of it but this year, it seems to be prettier than ever except I have to remember to buy two strong ring supports for it to grow up in come next Spring. My peony bushes produce a bloom that is light pink but center looks more white. Will have to look through Adelman's catalog and see if I can recognize it and put a name to it.
