Hurricane Ida knocked mine down and killed one so I chopped them all to the ground (they had new, stronger sprouts) and put 9 cuttings from the old growth in very light soil and they all mildewed and rotted. I'm assuming this has to do with the stems being hollow. I just took another cutting (only one with no flowers on it) from the actively growing recovered plants and placed it in a glass of water to see if that makes a difference. I trimmed the very large leaves down by half and the cutting has two nodes in water.
