Thanks, all. It was, and still is a fun project. It's also very nice to have "something to do" when I go there to visit so they don't feel as if they have to entertain me.
Next spring, I'll show you all the front yard! I didn't get any pictures of it this trip, (except the irises) because my mission was to re-plant a whole flower bed in the back yard that had been trampled by the two dogs. They're Australian shepherds, very energetic but such smart dogs and we have re-directed their daily runs around the new bed. We planted the garden before the dogs came along, but then let the dogs make their own paths, mulched to keep them clear and the dogs' paws clean. So it is a pretty dog-friendly yard. Sometimes playing fetch, they do get into the flowers, but the older of the two delicately steps around the flowers, bless her. The younger one has not learned yet . . .
An awful pic of one of the dogs - they won't sit still!
The new bed, little plants full of great potential - 'Burgundy' Gaillardias, two kinds of Agastache, a new double orange Echinacea 'Marmalade', Rudbeckia 'Cherry Brandy' and some Glamini Gladiolus in the middle so that something will for sure bloom this summer. Hoping my daughter will send me picture updates of how it comes along. There are iris, daylilies, Shasta daisies and Mexican primrose around the edges that survived the dog stampede, too.
