Hi frostfairy. Boy do I love your screen name. How did you come by it? Smiling

You are correct about your older horticulture publication. So many names have been changed in just the last few years. You'll have fun catching up on all the new names, everyone is so helpful here.

Great questions on Sempervivum, Jovibarba and J. heuffelii. You came to the right place for learning about them.
They all belong to the same family: Crassulaceae
Here are some links to help you learn about the differences.
Jovibarba:
Sempervivum: Sempervivum

And here is where all of us Hardy Succulent Lovers are hanging out:
Sempervivum, Jovibarba, Rosularia and Orostachys: http://garden.org/forums/view/...
Cactus and other tender succulents: http://garden.org/forums/view/...

I am so glad you found us frostfairy, we look forward to getting to know you, seeing photos of what you are growing, hearing your gardening experiences and so much more. Group hug

If you need any help just ask. We are more than happy to help you learn your way around this wonderful gardening community.
