Enjoying your gardens, Rita! I'm a Sun Gold fan....grow it every year. It's an orange cherry tomato, actually...extremely prolific. You have to be careful because I think there are some Sun Gold imposters out there and they're not as good. Otherwise, I just like to grow the big guys. This year, with the weather being so incredible, the tomatoes were in the store early (even earlier than usual), so I took a chance. Well, let me just say that I've never had tomatoes like this! They are already at the top of their supports! Yesterday, I had the first Sun Gold ripen and others will be soon. Never had tomatoes, of any kind, in June before. And, of the biggies, Big Beef is by far the best one for tomatoes, so far. There's 10 or 11 that look amazing on it...and that's just around the bottom. The others have fruit, too, but, at best one or two compared to Big Beef's 10+....Next year, I'm thinking I'll just get several Big Beefs, if this continues. In the past, I've grown some pink beefsteaks that were so delicious, but I managed to lose the tags or whatever and so am not sure what they were
....now, though, I'm short of space and so am happy to have the six plants that I do.
I'll probably buy some boxes of tomatoes when the farmers markets get some...Well, when I drive to Maryland, that is...haha...so much for any farmers markets around me. I love love to make my own sauce and that uses a lot of tomatoes. I'm down to my last frozen bag...so, I guess last year's lasted pretty well.
