Depends on your toilet paper holder. I've had a couple where if you had it feeding from over the top, it would either rip off every square or leave a pile of loose paper because it was stubborn to rip off. Those 2 I had to have it feed from the bottom. Otherwise whatever you prefer.

It works as a barrier to keep the edible slices fresher. Especially when you're married to someone who doesn't understand the concept of sealing up the plastic bag well to keep air out...
