Ha! New shade bed (or Woodlands Walk :), 1250sq ft. or so. Kinda in-between a 'bed' and a whole new part of the yard. Trees finally grew up enough to get serious about doing something underneath them. Limbed up the trees, put in a few paths, compost and pine needles. Now I'm going crazy for Shade Plants. Might be a while before I'm done with Hostas, though if you check my list you can see the zillions of plants I've already gotten. Most interesting is 'Praying Hands', oh and a little mini I got at Park Seed last weekend, Pandora's Box.

Sounds like you both love hostas, what are your favorites, and why? The hardest area to fill is going to be a corner that is full shade winter and summer. Have a holly border on south and east side of the bed, so anything close to them isn't going to get much sun even in the winter when the other trees lose their leaves. So far I've got some ferns, Aspidistra and Hosta Big Daddy in there (I think it will look nice with the Japanese painted ferns).
