We had just started the 19 mile trip across town to our evening church service when we hit sheets of rain. About a 1/3 of the way there we ran into a traffic light out at a major intersection with a white wall of rain beyond there. We sadly turned around and came home knowing if our small wash came up we would not get home. The dry area we had just driven thru was now being swept by the same waves of rain. Incredibly intense but thank the Lord we made it home safely. 
We ended up with .70 of rain !!! 
Most of the storms lately have missed us so this was great !
