Our local nurseries quit buying them also. I think the rose I lucked onto was a #2. It definitely is Shazam!. I bought it on April 14, 5 hours before the tornado took out the nursery. I joked with the clerk saying I was buying before they lost them in a tornado, and boy did I feel bad later.
I put in an order from Wayside a few months ago when they had their season ending rose sale. I ordered some hostas and shrubs on the same sale. Finally an email arrives announcing the shipment is coming, and then 1 box appears. No shrub, no roses. Just the hostas, but they look great. So I wait. The shipping invoice says this is a complete order, and it's just 1 box, but only the hostas have check marks by them.
I wait some more, then call them. I get a machine and leave a message. Then I email them. and again. No response. Finally it's way past time to even attempt anything bare root, so I notify my bank that I want a chargeback on my credit card. Bank of America has no problem doing that. From what I can tell, Wayside/Parks/J & P has never challenged the chargeback. They've never contacted me in any way. In the past, I got used to them sending an order out in several shipments, with a separate charge to the card each time, but just with 1 shipping fee. This was different for them. somebody really goofed on this one.
They have some roses in the most recent catalog that I would love to grow, but I'm not ordering from them again. This time, I really mean it.
