I've only been a member of this orchid club for a few months and haven't figured it out yet. There seems to be an 'alpha male' who runs everything, sells supplies, does all of the judging , etc. If he likes you, you win a ribbon. If not, it's off to the mulch pile. I just sit in the back and observe. They do have good speakers from time to time. I'm really not much of a meeting person; prefering to spend my time actually accomplishing something.
