kreemoweet said: I do not link the plants in my List to the entries in the DB because I would thereby lose control of how the plant is named in my List, which I find intolerable. For instance, I just added the plant "Allium fistulosum" to my list, and clicked on one of the proposed DB entries. The plant was entered in my list under the name "Scallion ...", not the name I know it by. This is something I simply cannot have. And I do not feel my ability to check out the contents of the DB is at all impeded.

If you had added the plants to your list by clicking the 'Add to your list' green button, they would appear EXACTLY in the same alphabetical order as you added them, by genus.
Allium fistulosum has a list of common names, the word scallion just happened to be at the top of the list so that was the one displayed before the genus name but it doesn't change the it's placement alphabetically. I just now gave a thumbs up to 'Evergreen Bunching Onions' as that seems to be the most popular one used online with vendors and references so now that is the main common name displayed. Evergreen Bunching Onion (Allium fistulosum) If other members gave more thumbs up to another common name on that list, the one with the most thumbs up would be the one displayed. But it never changes the order it appears on your list, it's always by genus.
