I've been "chatting" with Dave, and discovered why I couldn't find the Cubit owner issues forum (even with your link) since the end of last year: Dave had purposely excluded excluded certain groups, including those owning private cubits. To make a very long story short, since my cubit is private while I build it before going public, I was excluded. I am sure he had good reasons, still, I felt compelled to register my disappointment that I couldn't access all the good info found there to aid in building my cubit. He reconsidered, and the forum is again open to any All about Cubits.org member.

I bought Orosatachys spinosa as a seedling from a quite unique, once a year plant sale that is well know among gardeners here in Minneapolis/St. Paul. It was a dollar. Thousands of plant species and cultivars are for sale for three days only. They gross several hundreds of thousand of dollars in just that one long weekend!

I received O. chanettii seed through the North American Rock Garden Society seed exchange. I have never tried to grow Orostachys from seed before. Despite my Orostachys spinosa blooming with thousands of flowers and seething with insects, I could find only four seed capsules, and when I opened them, they were empty. It must be self infertile.

If you would like to try some very easy germinating hardy succulents, try the Delosperma or related genera. They need no pretreatment and grow ridiculously fast. Sow thinly! Every seed will sprout.
