Not that I think you all are on the wrong track (quite the contrary), but it is important to take into consideration all the characteristics of the plant as a whole. Additonal things like:
flower aspect
pedicel aspect, shape and length (also important for secondary/tertiary pedicels)
leaves subtending flowers
bud shape, color, aspect
leaves up and down the stem
even how the sprouts emerge from the soil
A good data base isn't just flowers...
