In the How to Sow and Plant they also have
The exception to this rule is 'On Deck' corn, which has been bred to grow in containers. If you are growing 'On Deck', choose a container that is at least 24 inches wide and deep and plant nine seeds evenly spaced.


With the other directions it almost looks like they made someone who isn't a gardener write the web page content. It's got what seems like generic corn info mixed with that variety's container bits squished together.
