Jim Murphy told me that most of theirs (Woodhenge) are "hard dormants," which means that they really need that winter chill in order to bloom well each year. I live in Bakersfield, and lately we hardly get down to freezing at all in winter now. So he told me he didn't think theirs would do well here. And it was certainly true for CHESAPEAKE CRABLEGS, which dwindled over three years and the blooms just got smaller and smaller.
But there are other dormants that do just fine here. SPIDER MIRACLE is the one I've had the longest (probably 5 years), and it dies completely back in winter and then comes back with beautiful blooms each year.
