Kathy, I am now strictly talking about the Calanthes which can be ordered from Asiatica. The climate zones are listed and they differ quite a bit.
X kozu and Takane are supposed to be ok in zones 7a - 9, but can be grown in zone 5 if the area has a lot of snow cover ( to protect them) I covered mine with branches from our Christmas tree. I had planted both and they came back last Spring. I am in 6b.
