It's like a Google search, random, at least that's how I understand it. Perhaps Dave will pop in here to further clarify it.

You can narrow down the search by choosing additional selections, however, make sure you select within the upper daylily section and not the generic lower section. For instance, if you want to find red Benz daylilies, don't check off the Red in the lower bloom color section, you will draw a blank. The daylily database is based on how the intros are registered and listed with the AHS so you would have to type in 'red' in the color description section, keeping in mind that it will pick out any mention of the word red like red eye.
