lol! I can totally relate to this. Unfortunately, my husband grew up thinking trees had to be topped, so several of our maples got topped many years ago. It just ruined the beautiful winter shape. I think it is a travesty that this practice continues.
As a matter of fact, my husband tried to get a couple of tree service companies to top the other huge maple on our property and they refused to do it! They would trim or remove, but not top. Our maple tree still stands intact
