I think perhaps that alyssum seeds are generally viable longer than petunia seeds regardless. (Actually, I've never seen pelleted alyssum seeds!)

I grew the last of my pelleted petunia seeds last year, when they were about 3 years old, and had roughly 30% germination.
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.
