So jealous of you all getting plants! All I got today was a dusting of snow...

We use narrow mouth jars with paper funnels that we make, and a piece of old banana to catch flies in the lab. Banana in the jar, funnel in the neck and a piece of tape to seal it. We've found they work well because the flies instinctively go up so they readily get trapped once inside. We're down the hall from a lab that uses fruit flies so they can be horrendous if not controlled. My former roommate worked on mosquitoes but thankfully they were larvae so they didn't hitch a ride home!
