If they stay in a protected place, no rain and kept on the dry side. In the ground I lost them in my zone 8. Way to wet during winter. The ones on the covered deck have done fine. I only gave them a bare sip of water may 3 times since last November.

You could always sink the pot in the ground and take it back up for winter? Or just set the pot out for the growing season?
