I used to get the coons that would wipe it out overnight...again and again. Now I don't put suet in a suet holder at all. I put out limited amounts of chunks of suet in the morning and it's gone by nightfall.
A sparrow and a couple of Lesser Goldfinch.

A male Lesser Goldfinch that I caught with all his pretty yellow breast showing.

And yesterday I was out watching all the bird traffic on the side yard, birds have several trees where they wait during busy bird feeding times for their chance to go to the feeder hanging from the cedar tree. There were quite a lot of birds waiting. I saw this male cardinal waiting on a dead tree branch. I'd been ill and am recovering, so am trying to stay outside more to get my strength back. Bird watching and taking pictures fits in with that nicely!

I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
Integrity can never be taken. It can only be given, and I wasn't going to give it up to these people. Gary Mowad
