If they're holding any moisture at the roots, and rot is beginning it will continue, so having them just in the air, for a week or so (in a shady dry place) will dry them off, and then you can easily pick off any dead leaves at the base (even on the chicks) and plant them up, they will then bounce back!! Anytime I see brown on my plants now, I pick them up and gently pick off the leaves so they don't rot...we're wet here in Seattle!
