To grow green garlic you can either buy garlic for planting or just go to a Whole Food store & get some nice looking, relatively fresh looking garlic bulbs. Separate them into cloves, and plant them, root end down, about 2" deep, in either the ground or in a pot. Since you're growing them for greens, any time of year would work.
