I tried the traps with very little success. The cat thing works well, when we had a cat, there were hardly any "varmits" around. Downside is ,the birds suffered, too!. I suppose that for "true" gophers, the traps might work , byt what we have(and call gophers) are actually 13 lined ground squirrels( look like a chipmunk). They are a little smaller than gophers, and seem to be able to wiggle past the trap, somehow!...Arlyn
