Valerie, I do think you are right, didn't even catch the center stem! Even nurseries get things wrong.

Sorry Paul, I will have to delete them but I wanted you to see the two differences first to show what Valerie saw.
Phormium leaves are more clustered http://www.plantsinstock.co.za...
and the cordyline leaves come out from a center stem http://www.gardencrossings.com...
