Well, I tried quite succesfully the Tulipa tarda.
And yes, seedlings die off cause so do their parents.
Tulips don't stay geen much longer after blooming.
I sowed seeds directly in the garden around parents, not in pots.
First spring there was just a tiny leaf (probably the cotyledon???) and nothing else.
You can water the "spot" once in a while, but i am not sure they prefer to be dry when dormant.
