Is the insert like a basket that drops into the canner?
We had canners like that.
It seems you have a cylinder shape thats open on one end.
If it was mine I would use it in shade or part shade.
Just thinking the metal cylinder would heat up in full sun making the soil too warm for annuals and some perennials.
Maybe take out the insert and use a plastic pot liner.Find a plastic planter same diameter and just drop it in then you wouldnt be filling the canner with expensive potting soil,just the amount needed for the plastic insert.
