Since Texas is sooo big, and covers so many zones, I would suggest that you call your local extension office. I think yours would be Archer County. Is that correct? The tried and true, go to it website for me would be Texas A&M's: http://agrilifeextension.tamu....

I have a Cornett, but I've never gotten apples. Lots of blooms, but no apples. I think it's just too hot here.
