Thanks Natalie! I must say though that I read it somewhere --- the Sunday paper if I recall correctly & it was years ago. I decided to try it & it worked. BUT --- we have had a long discussion on this:
The thread "Pennies in the birdbath..." in Ask a Question forum

It might behoove anyone reading this to read that thread. I believe from now on that I will stick with the copper tubing that is for use in our homes rather than pennies b/c of the risk of the zinc in them being exposed & hurting our fine feathered friends.
I also did a tip on using apple cider vinegar in the bird baths -- it works too -- but you have to add it every time you fill the birdbath (in other words -- everyday).
