I love the idea of cattle guards built into the roads! I could use a few of those as I move my cows down the road fairly regularly and someone - usually a heifer - always decides to go exploring.

Trees keep falling here too due to the recent summer droughts. Yesterday I planned to shred the famous triangular pasture which has about 10 acres of sand spurs (grass burs) growing in the pointy end. A mulberry tree had split in two and fallen behind the shop effectively blocking in all three tractors. So I spent quite a bit of time cutting it up so I could move it before I could get my favorite shredding tractor out. It has no cab, but is the most nimble and handy for dodging around the trees and awkward pointy fencelines. A dark cloud was forming to the east, but our weather seldom comes from there - HA! After about an hour, it poured rain; my boots filled up and I was sitting in a rather unpleasant puddle, but I still thought, "Much better than commuting to town and working at some desk." I guess I am an unrepentant farmer!
