Thanks for the explanation Dave.
In future should we need to create a species level parent plant (like Plectranthus scutellarioides) when a genus level parent plant already exists is there a work around?

Perhaps changing a parent plant back to a simple genus entry;
then creating the species level parent plant;
then changing the simple genus entry back to a parent plant.

Tiffany, Ti (Cordyline) is a simple genus entry, not a parent plant.

Parent plant entries:
Create mini-databases of all children entries.
Allow the propagation of General Plant Information throughout the mini database (ex. Herb/forb, perennial,...),
Allow the creation of custom data fields for all children entries. (ex. Division 1-11 for Tulipa),
Provide a place for unknown cultivar or species photographs to be placed,
Other properties I've missed I'm sure.

Simple genus entry:
Provide a place for unknown cultivar or species photographs to be placed, without the other properties of a parent plant.
