Seed pods of red bud look like narrow, flat edible pea pods 1.5-3 inches long. It's doubtful there are any left hanging on the tree. They would be certainly be dried up, but the seeds would still be good.

It is recommended to scarify the hard seed coat before giving 2 months (more is fine) of cold moist treatment (stratification). This breaks the internal dormancy of the embryo and allows growth when warm temps return in spring.
