I've grown a lot of Salvias from the annual types, to the tender perennial ones to the hardy ones over many years and I've never had a deer munch on any of them.

The wild rabbits will however, sometimes munch on a small newly planted Salvia, but will stop after the Salvia gets larger and gets more of its 'Salvia scent' and that will then, keep the rabbits from munching anymore.
