If you don't have deep pockets to get the double + fans, then single is the way to go if you want the newer variety. Just have patience. I bought about 20 single fans from "mike144mann" on the LA that I received during the spring of 2011. They are all doing good. I remember the puny plants I got from "Gilbert Wild". Those puny plants are now good size clumps, some of which I have traded to get some newer variety. Some do increase slower than others, but most take off by the second year. And then there are those that for some reason does not like their current location. Once move to a more favorable location they take off as if nothing happened. Instant gratification if for those with deep pockets. Gardening = patience.
