I agree that the Poke Weed is pretty but it reseeds like mad in the moister areas of the yard, one of which happens to be in the vegetable garden. The established taproots are huge and deep and removing them is really difficult. Greene isn't joking about the size of the root, but they usually grow straight down several feet rather than horizontally.
