I made my order from Palatine! Got Empress Josephine, Erinnerung an Brod, Leopold Ritter and Ispahan, looking forward to planting roses in the spring. Skiekitty, is it okay to plant them here before the end of April? We typically have at least 1 really cold, nasty week in May--will that kill a newly planted rose? The 4 varieties I chose were the ones that showed the coldest zones on their site, 1 zone 2 and the others say zone 3. If these do well I'll slowly make my way back to the zone 5s, those David Austins I killed really made me question myself! But I certainly didn't plant those as deep as you suggest so maybe, if all goes well, I'll try them again sometime in the future.
Thank you again for the advice and feedback on Palatine. I'm really excited about trying roses again! And I'll be haunting this forum to see the beautiful rose pics posted next spring/summer.
Now I just need to figure out how to keep the pesky deer away from them.....
