I've heard Ted Petit speak several times over the past couple of years. In one ( or both, I can't remember) he mentioned that he and Pat Stamile ( when Pat was still in FL) had made a pact to try and breed this trait out. He showed images of those daylilies in his breeding program ( and if you look, you can also find some of these in Pat's program) where the tips of each petal have almost no edging. They have heavy edges on the sides of the petals but the PETAL TIPS is where they found the blooms to be hanging up and Ted found if he could get the edges off the tips, the hang up problems were greatly reduced. I don't have time to dig through images, but imagine someone can find pictures of blooms that show this trait. Now, I have no idea whether other hybridizers expanded on this idea or not. Whenever a bloom has significant hang up problems upon opening, it doesn't stay around here very long for me to evaluate.
