I did not take it as a slam on Utah. It seems that each of us, depending on where we live, have special challenges sometimes but other growing conditions favor some plants. Once on DG someone commented that they were surprised that Hosta would grow in Utah. They grow nicely but do look especially nice if we have a rainy spring.
