Betsy: Can you post another photo from a little farther away, showing the entire plant as Carol suggested? I hadn't thought of a reed stemmed Epidendrum and I guess that could be a possibility. I couldn't find any photo's in our plant database but while googling I found this one for comparison:

I think I might have a reed stemmed Epidendrum in a pot out on my deck; tomorrow I'll go out and check and take a picture. Mine doesn't have a tag so I'm not certain what orchid it actually is. I purchased it at a plant sale last year and the lady just said it was a Florida Orchid, LOL.
