I'm not sure how long the glue will last but the plate was outside most of last summer when I packed it away for the winter it didn't look like it had degraded at all. I used a metal post that Ric bent for me to give it a nice curve to the stem. The other one I bought a green plastic post from the garden center at lowes. They are stakes or gardening or landscaping. Only a few $$.
