We grew black raspberries for a few years but their canes are long and will root whenever they touch the earth. I removed the whole patch, about 4 x 15', and I was happy to see them being carted off to the dump. It's easier to buy them locally at farm stands than to grow them. Weeds seem to be attracted to the area since only the brave will get down on their knees to remove any weeds due to the thorns on the canes.
