It's a peculiar name. It can't be a species name because the "jonquilla" and "simplex" would have to be separated by f., subsp, or var. It's possible, I suppose, that Simplex is the cultivar name of a Narcissus jonquilla. @jmorth is the authority on these. Let's see what he has to say.
