I had a small pond with a waterfall in my last garden in the city that my husband and brother-in-law built, we made it fairly deep to keep the racoons out but the herons visited too often and cleaned us out of koi. We opted for a few fancy gold fish and mosquito fish to keep things clean and had frogs lay eggs in it every year. We sure enjoyed it and considered another one here in the new garden but decided against attracting more wild life with our small dogs here. I do miss it though.
