Ann: Thank you so much for the tip of the Acorn ! I'm glad you were able to identify that bird. I love the sounds of that Carolina Chickadee ... lucky you to have one in your garden and oh my, the Indigo Bunting is such a pretty shade of blue; would love to see those beauties around here!

Cat: Love your bird photo's, the first looks to be a male Downy Woodpecker (the female doesn't have the red spot on top of the head) and I so love the Rose-breasted Grosbeak! Is the last one a Chipping Sparrow? Thanks for the link to the live cam of those Red-tailed Hawks, those babies are so precious! There's a pair of Red-tailed Hawks nesting in a tree right next to the entrance of a local library here and it was causing a lot of problems before the babies fledged the nest. The adults were dive bombing the people going to and from their cars and one lady had a minor head injury when the hawks talons came into contact with her head. There was talk by officials of re-locating the nest but thank goodness they left it alone. People began using umbrellas to protect themselves when they visited the library and the library folks also used large golf type umbrellas to escort people to and from their cars until the danger was past.

Tee: Thanks for the link to the Osprey nest cam! We've had lots of Ospreys here the past couple of years, they nest all over town. I was at one of our Wal-Mart stores last week and noticed a nest in a tree right next to the main road and parking lot with an adult perched on a limb near the nest and day before yesterday I happened to be at another Wal-Mart and there was an adult at the nest atop a pole in the parking lot. Many businesses have erected poles with platforms atop them and the Ospreys build their nests there. I need to take my camera later today and see if I can get some Osprey pic's. I haven't been up to the tennis courts in our neighborhood this year but there was a pair with young in the nest there last year. They built their nest atop a light pole right on one of the courts which really surprised me ... the adults were very agitated to have humans walking back and forth by the nest ... there are many courts so hopefully the one with the nest is not used during the season when the Ospreys are present.
