Can anyone give me any input on these irises. I have two types and they are both in pots. I have had one for several years. I bought the other one several weeks ago at a plant sale. It was marked 'iris, shade'. Both of these irises have narrow leaves. One is taller and has dark purple slender buds. The shorter ones leaves are a little wider and has red buds that open to a red orange bloom. Here are some pics.

The blooms are only about 2 to 2 1/2 inch across. It looks to me like maybe a species iris?? Does anyone grow these? Do they really require shade? The purple one has not opened yet.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?
